Pembroke 21C is a charitable organisation based in the Foundry House, Pembroke. Acanthus Holden were commissioned to convert the 1839 building to an arts and community centre with a series of modified and extended adjoining structures.
Originally the existing building appeared closed and dormant. The proposals prepared by Acanthus Holden are to reverse this and allow the building to appear active and used.
As a multi use community centre, the external appearance is one of the most important assets. The design was aimed at providing a visual link with the surroundings and giving the building a vibrant image.
The works on the Foundry was carried out in 3 phases. Phase II was completed in 2011.
