Scolton Manor and Country Park has been in the hands of the local authority since the early 1990’s. The listed Victorian manor house is a museum to country life and is surrounded by 60 acres of landscaped Gardens.
Over the last 20 years Acanthus Holden have been involved in several projects at Scolton, the most recent being the lime rendering of the Manor House in 2010.
In 1992 the practice was commissioned to design a visitor centre that is long-life, low energy from local and natural materials.
The building is highly insulated, incorporating passive and active solar and wind power collection systems and was featured in the Architects Journal (June 1995).
