AHA Offices

In 1992 Acanthus Holden Architects moved into new offices created out of a disused undertakers workshop. The workshop sits facing the medieval town walls underneath Pembroke Castle, and sits at water level with the castle moat.

The conversion was carried out within the shell of the existing building reusing all of the original materials available.

The heating system utilises one of the earliest condensing boilers available with combined underfloor heating. The building also utilises a passive stack ventilation system to draw cool air from the castle moat, up through the building.

The conversion was awarded ‘Runner up’ status in the Green Building of the Year Award 1992.
