Client – The Hean Castle Estate
Location – Saundersfoot, Pembrokeshire
Commission – Full Architectural Service
Netherwood which forms part of the Hean Castle Estate, is a manorial house with outbuildings, that traded as a small independent school for boarders and day pupils until its closure in 2009. This proposal is to extend and comprehensively refurbish the existing house and out buildings, to provide a high quality, 15 bedroom, exclusive use hotel and to act as a venue to cater for weddings and larger functions. In addition to providing high standards of internal accommodation, it will offer extensive landscaped grounds and lawned play areas. The buildings are Grade II listed.
Acanthus Holden Architects were commissioned to design and manage the transformation of the building into a exclusive use hotel.
The works involve the demolition of the 1960’s extension and the restoration of the interiors.
