Acanthus Holden Architects were commissioned to deliver a new village hall in the village of Llanfallteg, Camarthenshire. In line with the practice’s policy to design buildings to be more sustainable wherever possible, the hall incorporated low energy features in its design which reduces revenue costs for the community in the future.
A timber frame structure was employed with recycled newspaper insulation and Masonite beams.
The project was successful in obtaining funding from the Millennium Commission via Cynnal the National Assembly for Wales and European Union. Acanthus Holden Architects were responsible for the management and cost control of the project. The projet was realised in conjunction with Antur Cwm Taff Tywi, and the community of Henllanfallteg.
