Set within the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, this beautiful coastal location has been used as a car park and tourist facility for the last 50 years. Acanthus Holden Architects were appointed by the Hean Castle Estate to design a new visitor centre and parking facility providing family changing & showers, a restaurant, activity centre, shop and education area.
These new up-to date facilities are located in a new bespoke building designed to complement the existing sensitive surrounding context. The building was built to BREEAM excellent standards.
As lead consultants Acanthus Holden prepared and correlated the complex application that included co-ordinating all the statutory reports required by the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Planning Department. This challenging project was granted planning permission September 2012 and opened at Easter 2014.
The building received the 2015 RICS award for Tourism and Leisure.
